Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience with students in the Intermediate Phase (Grade 5-7).
• Strong ICT usage in daily teaching practice.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and present engaging lessons for Grade 5-7.
• Create a nurturing learning environment that promotes engagement.
• Maintain punctuality, professional behaviour and consistent homework standards.
• Reflect on and refine teaching practice for improvement.
• Engage in ongoing professional development with the school.
• Teach extra lessons on two afternoons per week as required.
• Produce high-quality teaching resources for students.
• Respond to emails/phone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Show loyalty to Reddam House Constantia in all duties.
• Attend school events and support Head of School decisions.
• Set and mark exams and other forms of evaluation.
• Write comments and reports on student progress.
• Undertake other reasonable tasks as directed.

ROLE SUMMARY:

• To adopt a holistic view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well‑being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, prepare and present interesting and exciting lessons.
• Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing, and which promotes engaged learning.
• Behave in a professional manner with regards to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and students’ homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
• Be open to continuously developing one’s teaching through personal and school wide professional development.
• Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.
• Produce resources of a high standard for students.
• Respond to e‑mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Show loyalty to all facets of Reddam House.
• Attend all special occasions at the discretion of the relevant Head.
• Set and mark exams and all other forms of student evaluation.
• Write comments reports.
• The post holder is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head/line manager determine.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Skills and Previous Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience with students in the Intermediate Phase (Grade 5-7) i.e primary school level
• Confidence with use of ICT in teaching.
• Previous experience with IEB programmes.
• Previous experience in a high‑performing international school.

Qualifications and Accreditations:

• University degree in appropriate subject.
• Certified Teaching Status/SACE.
• Appropriate right to work.
