Job summary

Placements24 seeks a motivated Civil Engineer specializing in Coastal Infrastructure to join the Mossel Bay team. The role centers on planning, design and oversight of port development, coastal protection, and marine structures, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions in a dynamic coastal environment.

You will design marine structures, conduct coastal studies, develop construction drawings, supervise fieldwork and ensure compliance with maritime and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with coastal or marine specialization.
• Minimum 6 years of coastal infrastructure design and project management experience.
• Proficiency in MIKE suite, Delft3D, and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of hydrodynamics, wave theory, and marine geotechnics.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments for coastal developments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze marine structures, including breakwaters, jetties, seawalls, and dredging operations.
• Conduct coastal engineering studies, including wave modeling, sediment transport analysis, and environmental impact assessments.
• Develop specifications and drawings for the construction of port facilities and associated infrastructure.
• Oversee site investigations and manage construction supervision for coastal projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant international and national maritime and environmental standards.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other project stakeholders on coastal development initiatives.
