Job summary

Ikwezi Mining (Pty) Ltd in Mpumalanga seeks a seasoned Coal Grade and Stockpile Controller to oversee stockpile management, grade monitoring, and sampling throughout the mining and processing chain.

You will ensure data accuracy, run quality analyses, report trends to management, and collaborate with planning, production, and plant teams to optimize coal quality and minimize losses, while upholding safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mining Engineering or Geology or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years in coal mining, focusing on grade control and quality management.
• Experience in coal sampling, testing, and grade optimization.
• Knowledge of coal processing, blending and quality analysis.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Proficiency with mining and laboratory software for data collection.

Responsibilities

• Oversee coal stockpile management including segregation, stacking, reclaiming and blending to meet specs.
• Monitor coal grade and quality throughout mining, processing and transport, addressing deviations promptly.
• Supervise or perform sampling and laboratory tests for ash, calorific value, moisture, sulfur and other indicators.
• Maintain accurate records of coal quality, production data, and test results; report trends to management.
• Identify areas to improve grade control and reduce waste in collaboration with mining engineers and geologists.
• Collaborate with production, processing, and QA teams to ensure adherence to quality assurance protocols.
• Communicate coal quality concerns and corrective actions with internal stakeholders.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental standards are followed in all grade control activities and audits.
