Job summary

Seriti invites applications for a Grade Controller at Klipspruit New Largo, Mpumalanga. This role ensures coal mined aligns with set standards and quality controls across stockpiles and plants.

You will audit inbound coal, coordinate with mining on deviations, and report on quality trends to support planning and risk mitigation. Requirements include a Geology diploma/degree, site-specific training, at least 2 years in production, MS Office skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Junior Degree in Geology is required.
• Site-specific programmes training is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the production environment.
• Computer literacy: MS Office; Valid driver’s license; Certificate of Fitness

Responsibilities

• Audit coal from mines to plants against daily, weekly and monthly plans.
• Liaise with mining to adjust actions when coal quality deviates from expectations.
• Track, manage and report coal quality across ex-pit stockpiles and product stockpiles.
• Coordinate with mining and Business Planning to keep geological model updated with timely information.
• Collaborate with plants, mines and Business Planning to meet coal quality tracking objectives.
• Ensure adherence to policies, standards and procedures in all areas of operations.
• Identify risks and implement cost-effective measures to mitigate them.
• Investigate non-conformances and drive improvements.
• Coach contractor personnel and ensure compliance with HSEC requirements.
• Uphold own Personal Development Plans and Performance contracts.

The role:

Responsible for ensuring that the coal mined is in accordance with agreed standards. Conducts regular mining visits to ensure that the coal available and delivered to stockpiles and plants is in accordance with agreed blocks and qualities.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Audit and ensure that the coal coming from the mines to the plants is in accordance with agreed daily, weekly, and monthly plans
• Liaise with mining to jointly make decisions on what to do when coal quality deviates from expected or agreed qualities
• Track, manage and report on the quality of coal in all ex-pit coal and product stockpiles through sampling and tracking in-flows and out-flows from the stockpiles
• Coordinate with mining and Business Planning to ensure that the geological model is updated with timely and accurate information
• Coordinate with a wide range of key stakeholders in the plants, mines, and Business Planning, to achieve coal quality compliance and tracking objectives
• Ensures adherence to policies, standards and procedures in all areas of operations
• Determination and communication of potential risks and measures to limit those risks at the lowest cost
• Investigates non-conformance to mining activities, identifies areas for improvement and implement solutions
• Carries out responsibilities in terms of HSEC requirements
• Responsible for compliance in respect to Company policies and procedures
• Coaches and provides technical assistance to contractor personnel
• Ensures adherence to own Personal Development Plans and Performance contract

Requirements:

• Diploma or Junior Degree in Geology
• Site specific programmes

• In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
