Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator for our Upington site in the Northern Cape. You will set up, operate, and monitor CNC lathes and mills to produce precise components according to specifications.

The role requires reading drawings, performing pre-operation checks, and conducting quality inspections with precision measuring tools. You will report data, troubleshoot minor issues, and collaborate with engineering and supervisory staff.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating CNC machines (lathes, mills).
• Relevant trade qualification or certification in CNC operation or machining.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience with CNC programming and setup is desirable.
• Knowledge of machining materials and their properties.
• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machinery (lathes, mills) according to production schedules and specifications.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CNC programs.
• Perform pre-operation checks on machinery to ensure it is in good working order.
• Load and unload materials and finished parts.
• Monitor machine operations during production runs, making adjustments as necessary to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Perform quality control inspections on finished parts using precision measuring tools.
• Identify and troubleshoot minor machine issues and perform basic maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations.
• Document production data and quality control records accurately.
• Collaborate with engineering and supervisory staff to optimize machining processes.
