Placements24 is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to design and implement scalable, secure cloud solutions in Mbombela (Nelspruit). You will lead cloud architecture across AWS, Azure, and GCP, driving migrations, security, and cost optimization.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in IT infrastructure with 4+ years in cloud architecture, deep cloud provider knowledge, and strong leadership and communication skills. This role is based in Nelspruit with a collaborative office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in IT infrastructure, with at least 4 years cloud architecture.
• Proven expertise with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and core services.
• Experience with containers and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, highly available cloud solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Develop migration strategies and roadmaps for moving on‑prem workloads to the cloud.
• Provide technical leadership on cloud best practices, security, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with engineering teams for seamless cloud deployment and integration.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud services to meet evolving needs.
• Create and maintain architectural documentation and guidelines.

About the Role

This strategic role involves leading the architecture of cloud infrastructure, services, and applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives and best practices. You will work closely with development, operations, and business teams to define cloud strategies, migrate existing workloads, and leverage cutting-edge cloud technologies. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in major cloud platforms and a proven ability to translate complex requirements into robust architectural designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud solutions on platforms such as AWS , Azure, or GCP.
• Develop migration strategies and roadmaps for moving on-premises workloads to the cloud.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on cloud best practices, security, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of cloud-based solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and technologies to meet evolving business needs.
• Create and maintain architectural documentation, diagrams, and best practice guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 4 years focused on cloud architecture.
• Proven expertise with major cloud providers like AWS , Azure, or GCP, including core services (compute, storage, networking, databases).
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker , Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles, networking concepts, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
