Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Cloud Security Architect to design, implement, and govern secure cloud environments from a hybrid Pretoria base. You will lead security in AWS and Azure, implement IAM, encryption, monitoring, and governance across CI/CD pipelines, and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with development and operations teams, assess risks, and drive security initiatives while staying current with cloud security technologies in a dynamic growth-focused firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field.
• 5+ years IT security with cloud specialization.
• Experience designing security on AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong cloud networking, IAM, data security, and threat detection.
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of security frameworks (ISO27001, SOC2, HIPAA).
• Relevant cloud security certifications (AWS/Security, Azure Security, CISSP).
• Excellent problem solving and collaboration in hybrid Pretoria environment.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing technology firm, is seeking a talented Cloud Security Architect to join their team, working a hybrid model from Pretoria, Gauteng. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and managing secure cloud environments, primarily leveraging AWS and Azure. You will be responsible for establishing security best practices, implementing robust security controls, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cloud-based data and applications. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, security principles, and the ability to architect solutions that meet stringent security requirements. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work remotely for a portion of the week, with required on-site collaboration in our modern Pretoria facility. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS and Azure platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in IT security, with a specialization in cloud security architecture.
• Proven experience designing and implementing security solutions on AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, data security, and threat detection in cloud environments.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of security compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA).
• Relevant cloud security certifications such as AWS Certified Security - Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or CISSP.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, comfortable working in a hybrid environment in Pretoria, Gauteng.
