Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a well-established short-term insurance company in Bloemfontein to recruit a diligent Claims Handler. You will manage end-to-end claims, assess validity, process payments, and support policyholders through the claims journey.

Strong communication and attention to detail are essential to deliver fair outcomes. Applicants should have a Grade 12, with insurance certification or NQF Level 4 advantageous, and at least 3 years of claims experience.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate; a relevant tertiary qualification or insurance certification (e.g., NQF Level 4) is advantageous.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Claims Handler in short-term insurance.
• Solid understanding of general insurance principles and policy wordings.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-centric approach.

Responsibilities

• Receive, register, and process insurance claims accurately and efficiently.
• Assess claim validity based on policy terms, conditions, and supporting documentation.
• Communicate effectively with policyholders, providing updates and explaining the claims process.
• Investigate claims by gathering information, obtaining reports, and liaising with relevant parties.
• Negotiate settlements within authority limits and ensure fair outcomes for all parties.
• Process claim payments and maintain accurate records of all claim-related activities.
• Identify potential fraudulent claims and escalate to the appropriate department.
• Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the claims handling process.
