Job summary

Aon South Africa is hiring a Claims Advocacy Consultant within our Claims department, this is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Sandton office. The role focuses on fast, efficient processing of claims to support a bespoke product offering.

The consultant will manage direct and mandated claims to ensure client satisfaction, retention and financial growth for the company, while guiding teams on technical issues and policy wordings.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• A relevant bachelor’s degree; LLB preferred.
• A relevant tertiary insurance qualification.
• Registration with the FSCA (FAIS Act).
• Registration as an associate with the IISA.
• A background in handling legal claims is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Claims Advocacy Manager to deliver high-quality, efficient, compliant claims servicing.
• Attend to claims referred to the Claims Advocacy team and manage disputes.
• Negotiate settlements with insurers or other parties within mandate to secure best policy outcomes.
• Accurately capture settlement information on Aon Global Claims Advocacy platforms.
• Provide guidance to Claims Administration and Broking teams on technical issues and policies.
• Identify gaps in policy wordings using data and present trends to the wider business.

Aon South Africa is hiring a Claims Advocacy Consultant within our Claims department, this is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Sandton office.

The role of a claims advocacy consultant is to provide fast and efficient services to clients with the processing of the claims in supporting a bespoke product offering. The claims advocacy consultant must manage direct and mandated claims that will ensure client satisfaction, client retention and financial growth for the company.

What The Day Will Look Like

• Work with Claims Advocacy Manager to ensure high quality, efficient and compliant delivery of all claims' servicing including large losses and contentious claims
• Attend to claims referred to the Claims Advocacy team
• Attend to rejections, disputes and contentious losses and provide support to the Claims Administration team on large losses above R 250 000 000. Appoints loss adjusters / assessors where mandated.
• Negotiate settlement with suppliers, Insurers or any other parties involved within the set mandate on claims that entered the Claims Advocacy team. Ensures the client gets the best settlement in terms of the policy.
• Prioritizes own work and works autonomously within defined boundaries.
• Accurately capture claims settlement information on the Aon Global Claims Advocacy platforms.
• Follow post loss process requiring corrective underwriting.
• Adhere to the minimum Quality and Service Standards.
• Responsible for engaging in business development and/or contributing directly or indirectly to all business development efforts in Aon South Africa.
• Providing guidance and advice to the Claims Administration teams, the Broking teams as well as clients on technical issues on claims and policies.
• Use Statistical Data to identify Gaps in Policy wordings and present trends to the wider business

Qualifications.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• Grade 12. (Matric).
• A relevant bachelor’s degree; preferable an LLB
• A relevant tertiary insurance related qualification.
• Registration with the FSCA in terms of the FAIS ACT.
• Registration as an associate with the IISA.
• A Background in handling legal claims will be beneficial

Knowledge.

• Technical/Professional knowledge of insurance principles practices and disciplines.
• Have a solid understanding of risk analysis methodologies.
• Have a good understanding of the applicable legislative environment governing the insurance industry
