Job summary

SMEC Services Pty Limited in Cape Town is seeking an Engineer/Technologist to provide design, drafting, and technical support across roads, stormwater and bulk services. You will prepare project documentation and ensure compliance with quality procedures.

The role requires a BEng/BTech and at least 3 years post-graduate experience, with proficiency in Civil 3D. You will collaborate with municipal clients and contribute to project delivery on-site in Cape Town.

Qualifications

• B. Eng or B Tech Degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum 3 years of post-graduate, practical experience.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D design and analysis software packages.
• Clear understanding of local functional business technologies and markets.
• Knowledge of basic project management and the use of project management software.
• Maintain Quality and timeliness of reporting.
• Planning of workload to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all design and modelling aspects – from planning, conceptual design to detailed design and construction drawings of Roads, Stormwater, Water and Sewer Bulk Services and Reticulation, etc.
• Assist with supervising small teams (Technicians, Students, Draughtsmen, Graduates)
• Must be able to work in a team to support a leader but also take the lead on project designs.
• Ensure that required drawing standards and construction supervision requirements are maintained and deliver excellent client service if required when client facing.
• Prepare reports required by the project, implementation of all relevant codes of practice and ensuring that all work complies with SMEC’s quality control procedures
• Support Senior Engineers/Technologists with project management and take lead when required.
