Duties & Responsibilities
- Experience leading complex projects, influencing policy development, and implementing innovative solutions to water-related challenges will be
- highly regarded.
- Developing and implementing Water Conservation and Demand Management strategies, policies, and programmes.
- Leading initiatives aimed at reducing water losses and improving water use efficiency.
- Managing and coordinating water security, drought mitigation, and resilience projects.
- Conducting technical assessments, feasibility studies, and evaluations of emerging water-sector technologies.
- Developing water demand forecasting models and long-term water resource planning strategies.
- Managing large-scale water and sanitation infrastructure projects from concept through implementation.
- Preparing funding applications, business cases, and budget forecasts for water conservation interventions.
- Developing financial and business models for water services and utility operations.
- Drafting tender documentation, evaluating bids, and overseeing contract administration.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, government departments, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
- Providing technical leadership on groundwater, SCADA, telemetry, smart metering, and water treatment initiatives.
- Assisting with the development of master plans, standards, and operational policies related to water services.
- Monitoring project performance and ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Desired Experience & Qualification
BEng/BSc Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Professional registration with ECSA, or active progression towards registration, will be advantageous.
Minimum 8 years' experience in the water and sanitation sector.
- Strong knowledge of water resource management and demand management principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Sound understanding of municipal legislation, procurement processes, and infrastructure planning.
- Experience in data analysis, financial modelling, and strategic planning.
- Strong report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency in engineering software and data management systems.
