A well-established consulting engineering firm is seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated professional to join its Water and Sanitation division in East London. This opportunity is suited to a professionally registered engineer/technologist — or a candidate nearing professional registration — with strong municipal infrastructure and design experience.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc / BEng / BTech (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
- Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (Pr Eng or Pr Eng Tech) preferred
- Candidates within 12 months of professional registration may also be considered
- 7–10 years’ relevant experience in water and sanitation projects within a consulting engineering environment
- Strong design and project experience in:
- Water reticulation
- Sewer reticulation
- Pump stations
- Bulk pipelines
- Stormwater systems
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- Civil 3D
- EPANET
- HEC-RAS
- MS Project
- Excellent report writing, communication and project coordination skills
Key Responsibilities
- Detail design of water and sanitation infrastructure projects
- Preparation of tender and contract documentation
- Construction monitoring and contract administration
- Hydrological investigations and flood line determination
- Project management, budgeting and client liaison
- Mentoring and supervising junior technical staff
- Supporting business development and proposal preparation
Advantageous Experience
- GCC / FIDIC / NEC contract knowledge
- Water and wastewater treatment plant exposure
- PPP project experience
- International funding agency project exposure
- Membership with industry bodies such as:
- Consulting Engineers South Africa
- South African Institution of Civil Engineering
- Water Institute of Southern Africa
