The role will involve preparing technical drawings, assisting with engineering calculations, quantities and cost estimates, and ensuring designs meet relevant standards under the guidance of senior engineers.
Assist with civil engineering designs for roads, earthworks, stormwater, sewer and water reticulation projects.
Prepare and update technical drawings using established standards and templates.
Apply relevant SANS and municipal requirements under supervision.
Assist with basic engineering calculations, modelling and technical reviews.
Review drawings and layouts for accuracy and constructability.
Assist withquantity take-offs, measurements and cost estimates.
Extract and interpret information from surveys, maps and technical drawings.
Assist with gathering and reviewing site information, including as-built data and topographical surveys.
Ensure measurement and design information is accurate and properly documented.
Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities and basic designs for proposals.
Perform quality checks on drawings and design outputs.
Identify and report errors, risks and inconsistencies.
Support compliance with engineering standards, legislation and internal procedures.
Stay up to date with relevant engineering tools, practices and legislation.
Work closely with engineers, draughts people and project teams.
Take ownership of assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.
Participate in design reviews and coordination meetings.
Communicate professionally with clients, contractors and other stakeholders.
Apply feedback and contribute to technical problem-solving.
Completed BEng/BSc/BTech in Civil Engineering.
0–2 years relevant civil engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
Experience with earthworks, municipal services, roads, stormwater or water reticulation is advantageous.
Knowledge of civil design principles, standards and municipal requirements.
Understanding of technical drafting standards and conventions.
Proficiency inMS Office.
Familiarity withCivil 3D, AutoCADor similar design software.
Valid driver's licence.
ECSA Candidate Engineer/Technologist/Technician registration is advantageous.
