Placements24 is seeking a Chief Surveyor to lead remote survey data management and QA/QC across multiple mine sites. You will establish data standards, provide high-level guidance, and ensure data integrity for planning, estimation and operations.

The role requires extensive experience in mine surveying, strong leadership, and the ability to work within a hybrid setup with periodic on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Surveyor to lead their remote survey data management and quality assurance efforts. This role is critical for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of spatial data essential for mine planning, resource estimation, and operational control across multiple sites. You will be responsible for establishing and enforcing data standards, implementing advanced QA/QC protocols, and providing high-level technical guidance to site survey teams. While the core function involves remote data analysis and management, periodic on-site visits to verify processes and collaborate with operational teams will be required. The successful candidate will ensure the highest standards of data reliability and operational efficiency from a hybrid work setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust data management systems and QA/QC protocols for all survey data.
• Oversee the processing, validation, and archiving of survey data from various mining operations.
• Provide technical leadership and support to on-site survey teams, remotely diagnosing and resolving issues.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy in the application of geodetic control and coordinate systems.
• Review and approve key survey deliverables, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Stay abreast of emerging surveying technologies and data management best practices.

Requirements

• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mine surveying, with significant experience in data management and QA/QC.
• Expertise in modern surveying software, including data processing, modeling, and GIS platforms.
• Strong understanding of geodetic principles, coordinate transformations, and spatial data management.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities, capable of managing remote teams and liaising with site personnel.
