Placements24, on behalf of our client near Nelspruit, seeks a Chief Safety Officer to lead safety initiatives across mining operations. This on-site, senior role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive HSE programs aimed at zero-harm and regulatory compliance.

You will drive safety culture, conduct audits, manage training, and ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act and international best practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years HSE management experience, 5+ years senior role in mining.
• CMSP or equivalent certification desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of South African mining legislation (Mine Health and Safety Act).

You will be a key leader, driving a strong safety culture throughout the organization and ensuring full compliance with all legal and company standards. Key Responsibilities

• In-depth knowledge of South African mining legislation (e.g., Mine Health and Safety Act).
• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful safety management systems.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
