Qualifications

• Law degree or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years in a senior compliance, legal, or risk management role within banking/financial services.
• In-depth knowledge of South African banking regulations, AML/CFT, and governance principles.
• Proven experience developing and managing robust compliance programs.
• Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance program for the bank.
• Oversee regulatory filings and interactions with regulatory bodies (e.g., SARB, FIC).
• Ensure AML/KYC and data privacy compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate compliance risks.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for staff.
• Advise the Board and senior management on compliance matters.
• Manage the compliance department and staff.
• Stay updated on legislative changes and industry best practices.
• Promote an ethical culture and ensure integrity across the bank.
