Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Purchasing Specialist for raw materials in Vereeniging. You will manage end-to-end procurement, onboard suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and monitor markets to anticipate price shifts.

You’ll work with Production, R&D and QA to align material forecasts with demand and ensure quality and compliance. The role requires a relevant degree and at least 4 years’ experience in raw materials procurement, preferably in chemicals, with strong negotiation skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in SCM, Chemistry, Chemical Eng, Business Admin, or related field.
• At least 4 years in purchasing/procurement of raw materials in chemical/manufacturing.
• Strong negotiation of complex supply agreements.
• Knowledge of commodity markets and pricing impact.
• ERP experience (SAP) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement for diverse raw materials.
• Identify, evaluate, onboard new suppliers with quality/ethics compliance.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize cost.
• Monitor global/local commodity markets for trends and price changes.
• Collaborate with Production, R&D, and QA to forecast material needs.
• Maintain records of purchases, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
• Develop strategies to mitigate raw material supply risks.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with policies and regulations.
• Optimize inventory levels balancing supply and working capital.
• Foster strong relationships with key suppliers.
