Placements24 is seeking a hands-on Chemical Plant Operations Engineer to oversee Mossel Bay facility operations, ensuring safe, efficient production and plant integrity.

You will collaborate with operators, maintenance teams, and other engineers to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced chemical environment. A degree in chemical/mechanical engineering and 4+ years of plant ops experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in plant operations or production engineering within a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, equipment (e.g., reactors, distillation columns, pumps), and control systems.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting operational problems and implementing effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily plant operations, ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently.
• Monitor process performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Collaborate with the maintenance department to plan and execute equipment repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company procedures.
• Train and mentor plant operators and technicians on operational best practices and safety protocols.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance yield, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
