Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor for its Durban, KwaZulu-Natal facility. The role oversees daily production operations, guides a team, and ensures safety and quality on the shop floor.

The position requires hands-on leadership in a chemical manufacturing setting and on-site commitment. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in supervision, strong knowledge of chemical processes and safety, and a proven ability to drive continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Requires National Diploma or relevant certification in Chemical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in a supervisory/lead role within chemical manufacturing or similar.
• Strong knowledge of chemical processes, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily production staff on the plant floor.
• Ensure production targets meet schedules and quality standards.
• Enforce safety regulations, environmental policies, and procedures.
• Monitor equipment and processes and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Train and mentor operators on best practices and safety protocols.
• Conduct daily shift handover meetings and document activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Maintain clean and organized work environment.
