Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive and analytical Chemical Engineer for its client in Rustenburg, North West. The role focuses on analyzing and improving chemical processes to boost efficiency and yield within mining-related operations.

The candidate will lead process modifications, pilot studies, and cross-functional collaboration with production and maintenance to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a process engineering role, preferably in mining/minerals processing.
• Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software.
• Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills.
• Experience with statistical analysis and quality control techniques.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Knowledge of reaction engineering and separation processes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing chemical processes to identify efficiency, yield and quality improvements.
• Develop and implement process modifications and optimization strategies.
• Monitor key process parameters and troubleshoot deviations.
• Conduct pilot studies and scale-up trials for improvements.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Prepare technical reports with performance analyses and cost-benefit assessments.
• Support design and specification of new process equipment.
• Assist in implementing advanced process control systems.
• Maintain detailed records of process data and performance.
