Job summary

Pick n Pay is seeking a Checkout Assistant to provide excellent customer service at the checkout. The role involves processing purchases, handling payments, and maintaining an orderly checkout area in line with company standards.

Minimum Grade 12, strong communication, basic numeracy and computer skills are required. Willingness to work shifts, weekends and holidays is expected, with prior retail experience advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Previous retail or cashier experience is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Scan items and process purchases accurately at checkout.
• Handle cash, card, vouchers and other payment methods.
• Balance till and report discrepancies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and orderly checkout area and assist with refunds/exchanges.
