Job summary

JVR Software in Tshwane is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a 6-month contract to own financial control, reporting and accounting duties in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have post-articles SAICA experience, strong technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to engage with stakeholders across statutory accounting, reporting and controls.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) is required.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting and BCom Honours preferred.
• AGA(SA) or eligibility for SAICA registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting duties, including journals, creditor payments, month-end processes and VAT reconciliations.
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
• Assist with financial reporting and provide variance analysis and financial insights.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial information.
• Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies and queries.
• Contribute to the audit process and resolve audit queries within required deadlines.
• Review journals and ensure invoices are captured accurately and timeously.
• Monitor and maintain appropriate financial controls.
• Assist with budgeting, financial planning and cost optimisation.
• Analyse expenses against budgets and investigate variances.
• Provide financial commentary, trend analysis and reporting insights.
• Support the development and improvement of finance processes and reporting.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their Finance team on a 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who can take ownership of financial control, reporting and accounting responsibilities within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will support the finance function across statutory accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, financial controls and business partnering. We are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller who is immediately available and can step into the role with minimal onboarding. The ideal candidate will have strong post-articles experience, excellent technical accounting knowledge and the ability to operate confidently across financial reporting, controls, reconciliations and stakeholder engagement.

Job Experience & Skills Required

• Qualifications: Matric (Grade 12) Bachelors Degree in Accounting BCom Honours in Accounting AGA(SA) or eligibility for registration with SAICA.
• Experience: Completed SAICA Articles 23 years post-articles experience is essential. Experience within the financial services industry would be advantageous. Strong understanding of financial accounting, controls and reporting processes. Experience with financial systems and accounting processes.
