Job summary

Boardroom Appointments invites applications for a Control Room Operator role in Gauteng. You will monitor CCTV feeds across multiple screens, document events, and respond swiftly to incidents while maintaining strict confidentiality and integrity of all evidential material.

The position requires strong computer literacy, ability to produce clear written reports, and familiarity with health and safety practices in a security environment.

Qualifications

• Computer literacy: MS Word and email required; PowerPoint and Excel desirable
• Working up to 12 shifts in secure control room environment
• No problem working with multiple display screens
• Understanding of CCTV systems for operation and basic fault diagnosis
• Understanding of legal terms related to video evidence and security work
• Ability to write basic reports
• Ability to give coherent verbal evidence when required
• Apply Health and Safety procedures with general supervision
• Take corrective action with general guidance
• Identify hazards and handle them with direct instructions
• Make basic inferences from customer usage patterns
• Familiarity with CCTV system operation
• Understand law related to use of video evidence and manage tapes
• Knowledge of security work
• Police procedures for liaison with security operations

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol via view screens effectively and take remedial or immediate action
• Communicate between departments, external agencies or public in a professional and courteous manner
• Record all events and actions in a clear, legible and accurate written format
• Produce and maintain continuity of detailed records or evidential material in a clear, legible format
• Maintain personal integrity and confidentiality of information in the control room
• Ensure equipment is functioning correctly, perform checks and report faults
• Ensure security of the control room and equipment, including access control of visitors
• Maintain professional conduct
• Assist in relevant operations/functional tasks as required
• Ensure dress code aligns with SOPs
• Maintain housekeeping standards daily
• Ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained

Job description

• Able to apply Health and Safety procedures in own work area with general guidance/supervision in place
• Able to take corrective action when required with general guidance in place
• Able to identify hazards and handle them with direct instructions/guidance in place
• Can make basic inferences from customer usage patterns
• Must be familiar with the operation of CCTV systems
• Have an understanding of the law related to use of video evidence and have skills to apply that understanding to the management of tapes
• Have some knowledge of security work and
• police procedures for liaison with security operations

• Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly, carry out equipment checks as required and inform immediately all required personnel of all faults found
• Ensure the security of the control room and all equipment is maintained satisfactorily at all times,
• which includes access control of all visitors to the control room
