Placements24 is seeking a Lead Cold Chain Logistics Specialist to manage end-to-end temperature-controlled logistics in Cape Town. You will drive SOP development, monitor temperature compliance, and lead a team of coordinators to ensure optimal performance for pharmaceuticals, perishable foods, and high-value items.

The role demands deep GDP knowledge, strong analytical abilities, and effective collaboration with carriers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of logistics experience with cold chain specialization.
• Experience managing temperature-sensitive supply chains (pharma, biologics, food).
• Knowledge of GDP and related regulations.
• Experience with cold chain monitoring equipment and software.
• Strong analytical, project management, and leadership skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• Willingness to travel to oversee operations.
• Excellent negotiation and communication with 3PL providers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end cold chain logistics from origin to destination.
• Develop SOPs for temperature-controlled transport and storage.
• Monitor temperature excursions and implement preventive measures.
• Ensure GDP and local regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with carriers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Lead and mentor logistics coordinators.
• Provide real-time updates using tracking technologies.
• Analyze data to identify cost reductions and service improvements.
• Prepare detailed performance and risk reports.
