Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Logistics Coordinator - Cold Chain Specialist to manage temperature-sensitive shipments from George, Western Cape. You will ensure adherence to cold chain protocols, monitor environmental conditions, and coordinate with carriers and customers to maintain timely deliveries.

The role requires 3–5 years in logistics coordination, knowledge of refrigeration systems, and strong IT literacy with logistics software and the MS Office suite.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least 3–5 years of experience in logistics coordination with a focus on cold chain.
• Demonstrable knowledge of temperature-controlled transport and storage requirements.
• Familiarity with refrigeration equipment and monitoring technologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Experience in the George, Western Cape area is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods, ensuring compliance with cold chain protocols.
• Monitor temperature logs and environmental conditions throughout transit.
• Liaise with carriers, suppliers, and customers to schedule shipments and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory levels, and temperature data using company systems.
• Develop strategies to optimize cold chain logistics and reduce spoilage.
• Conduct regular audits of cold storage facilities and transportation methods for compliance.
• Assist in preparing shipping documents and customs declarations where applicable.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges related to temperature excursions or delays.
• Provide regular reports on cold chain performance metrics to management.
• Collaborate with QA to uphold product integrity and safety standards.
