Job summary

Higher Health in South Africa is seeking a Registered Counsellor to deliver structured, evidence-based psychological interventions for students, with a focus on early intervention and brief support within a campus setting.

You will collaborate with health services and academic support to promote mental wellbeing, design preventative programmes, coordinate referrals to psychologists, and deliver tele-psychosocial services to international and remote students.

Qualifications

• Professional Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
• Bachelor Honours degree or BPsych with practicum (720-hour practicum).
• Registered with the HPCSA as a Registered Counsellor.
• 5 years of counselling experience.
• Strong interviewing techniques and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

• Deliver supportive, developmental, and preventative psychological interventions to promote student wellbeing and functioning within a campus environment.
• Design and implement sub-components of intervention programmes aligned to institutional priorities and student needs.
• Facilitate psychoeducational workshops, presentations, and campaigns to promote mental health awareness and help-seeking behavior.
• Provide counselling across individual, group, and community levels to support academic success and psychosocial adjustment.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and timely referrals to internal or external services.
