Job summary

African Echoes Recruitment is seeking a senior hospitality leader to run daily camp operations at a Bela Bela luxury lodge. You will oversee guest experiences, meals, activities and special occasions, while leading a team and maintaining luxury service standards.

The role requires 5+ years in senior hospitality, strong staff management and a proven track record in F&B, housekeeping and operations control. A valid driver’s licence and fluent English are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in senior hospitality leadership roles (camp/lodge).
• Experience in luxury safari lodges or five-star settings.
• Strong staff leadership and guest service capabilities.
• Proven beverage, F&B, housekeeping and maintenance oversight.
• Cash handling and basic budgeting knowledge.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Computer literacy with hospitality systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily camp operations and guest experiences.

• Lead, motivate and supervise the team; conduct daily briefings.
• Ensure SOPs and luxury service standards are maintained.
• Oversee housekeeping, maintenance, F&B and property presentation.
• Monitor stock, purchasing and regular stock takes.
• Drive revenue from beverage, activities and private experiences.
• Ensure accurate guest billing and financial controls.
• Compile operational reports and liaise with Head Office.

Job description

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years' experience as a Camp Manager, Lodge Manager, Assistant GM or similar senior hospitality role
• Luxury safari lodge, private villa or five-star hospitality experience essential
• Strong leadership and staff management skills
• Excellent guest relations and communication skills
• Experience managing the complete guest journey
• Luxury hosting experience including meals, drinks and special occasions
• Experience overseeing housekeeping, maintenance and F&B operations
• Strong stock control and beverage management experience
• Experience with retail/curio sales and revenue generation
• Basic financial, budgeting, cost-control and cash-handling knowledge
• Strong administration and reporting skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
• Computer literate with hospitality systems
• Valid Driver's Licence and confident safari/lodge driving ability
• Fluent English; additional languages advantageous
• Mature, professional, well presented and highly organised
• Hands-on, flexible and able to work under pressure
• Three contactable managerial references required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take full responsibility for daily camp operations
• Ensure exceptional, personalised guest experiences
• Oversee arrivals, departures, meals, activities and special occasions
• Manage guest preferences, dietary requirements and special requests
• Lead, motivate and manage the team
• Conduct daily staff briefings and monitor performance
• Ensure SOPs and luxury service standards are maintained
• Conduct daily room and property inspections
• Oversee housekeeping, maintenance and property presentation
• Manage F&B service, beverage stock and minimise wastage
• Monitor stock, purchasing and regular stock takes
• Drive beverage, activity, private experience and retail revenue
• Ensure accurate guest billing and financial controls
• Compile operational reports
• Liaise with Head Office and senior management
• Proactively identify challenges and implement solutions
• Assist across all operational areas when required

PACKAGE:

• Salary: R16,000 per month
