Job summary

Zohorecruit is seeking a School facilitator/Au-Pair to support an 11-year-old nonverbal girl with autism in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal. You will accompany her to school daily and provide in-class and after-school support in a calm, compassionate manner.

The role requires patience, empathy, and the ability to use non-verbal communication and alternative methods. A reliable driver’s license and own vehicle are preferred; availability Monday to Friday until 16:00; training provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with children; experience with neurodivergent children would be advantageous.
• Warm, gentle, patient and empathetic approach.
• Strong understanding of, or willingness to learn about, neurodiversity and different forms of communication.
• Ability to use and support alternative and non-verbal forms of communication.

Responsibilities

• Accompany the child to school each day and provide support throughout the school day.
• Provide after-school care and companionship until approximately 16h00.
• Support regulation, communication, participation and wellbeing using a low-demand, child-led approach.
• Assist with activities and engagement to ensure the child can participate at her own pace.
• Recognise signs of overwhelm and respond calmly, safely and compassionately.
