The Neurodiversity Centre in Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa seeks a compassionate school facilitator to support a 13-year-old neurodivergent learner during the school day. You will work with teachers and a multidisciplinary team to implement supportive strategies, providing emotional co-regulation and fostering independence in a neuro-affirming, low-demand environment.

Fluency in English and Afrikaans, teaching credentials or relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license are essential for

Qualifications

• Teaching or remedial education qualification or relevant experience is essential.
• Experience supporting neurodivergent learners is highly advantageous.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle.
• Patient, nurturing and emotionally attuned.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to a neuro-affirming, strengths-based and low-demand approach.
• Able to commit to the role long term.

Responsabilités

• Provide one-on-one support throughout the school day.
• Support the learner to access the academic curriculum using accommodations and strategies.
• Adapt and break down learning tasks to reduce overwhelm and promote success.
• Provide emotional co-regulation and reassurance during anxiety or distress.
• Foster independence, confidence and self-advocacy.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents and the multidisciplinary team.
• Monitor wellbeing and communicate observations with the team.
• Build a trusting relationship promoting emotional safety at school.
