Job summary

The Neurodiversity Centre is seeking a dedicated school facilitator to support a neurodiverse 10-year-old boy during school days, holidays and activities, focusing on confidence, independence and social learning. The role requires fluency in Afrikaans and English, reliable transport, and living within 10 km of Paarl.

A long-term commitment of about 2 years is preferred. You will collaborate with teachers, parents and a multidisciplinary team to scaffold learning, support executive functioning,

Qualifications

• Fluency in Afrikaans and English is essential.
• Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license is essential.
• Must live within 10km of Paarl.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Legal employability in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent support to the child during the school day, extramural activities and school holidays.
• Identify when scaffolding is needed to support learning, social interactions and confidence.
• Attend school daily to provide scaffolding across subjects and activities.
• Act as a communication bridge between teachers, parents and the multidisciplinary team.
• Break down tasks and support literacy and writing challenges.
• Encourage independence, confidence and resilience in academic and social contexts.
• Support executive functioning skills such as organisation, problem-solving and self-regulation.
• Adapt approaches to meet daily mood and engagement variations.
• Provide proactive daily feedback to parents on progress and challenges.
• Facilitate educational and social activities during school holidays.
