Job summary

Lesedi Nuclear Services Pty. Ltd. is seeking a seasoned Control & Instrumentation engineer to deliver compliant, cost-effective engineering designs across the full project lifecycle. You will provide technical leadership from tender to handover, supporting proposals, procurement, commissioning, and handover activities.

The role requires professional engineering outputs on time and within budget, aligned with client requirements, codes, standards, and internal management systems.

Qualifications

• BSc/ BEng / BTech in Control & Instrumentation Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer/Technologist (Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech) with ESCA.
• Recognised or authorised Safety Evaluator status (e.g., 10 CFR 50.59 or equivalent) preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop C&I engineering designs for projects.
• Produce technical specifications and design calculations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Review and approve engineering drawings and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to project engineers and designers.
• Deliver engineering outputs within project schedules.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
• Support tendering, procurement & technical clarification meetings.
• Participate in FATs and site testing activities.
• Promote continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Job description

PURPOSE OF ROLE

To provide technical expertise in the delivery of compliant, cost-effective, and constructible engineering designs across the full project lifecycle, from tender to handover. The role ensures professional engineering outputs are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with client requirements, applicable codes and standards, and internal engineering management systems. The successful candidate will also act as technical support within projects, contributing to proposal development, procurement, commissioning, and handover activities.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Engineering Design & Technical Leadership

• Develop C&I engineering designs
• Produce technical specifications and design calculations
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes and standards
• Review and approve engineering drawings and documentation
• Provide technical guidance to project engineers and designers

Project Engineering & Design Delivery

• Deliver engineering outputs within project schedules
• Monitor design progress against project milestones
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering interfaces
• Manage engineering changes and configuration control
• Support project planning and technical decision-making

Tendering, Procurement & Technical Support

• Prepare technical inputs for tenders and proposals
• Develop procurement specifications for equipment and services
• Evaluate supplier technical submissions
• Support technical clarification meetings with clients and vendors
• Participate in contract and scope reviews

Testing, Commissioning & Quality Assurance

• Review commissioning and testing procedures
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
• Support site testing and commissioning activities
• Verify compliance with quality and technical requirements
• Resolve technical issues during project execution

Compliance, Risk & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure compliance with nuclear and industry regulations
• Identify and mitigate engineering risks
• Participate in design reviews and quality audits
• Promote continuous improvement of engineering processes

QUALIFICATION

• BSc/ BEng / BTech in Control & Instrumentation Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer/Technologist (Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech) with ESCA
• Recognised or authorised Safety Evaluator status (e.g., 10 CFR 50.59 or equivalent) preferred

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Control & Instrumentation engineering within the nuclear, power generation, industrial, or heavy engineering sectors
• Experience in multidisciplinary engineering design projects
• Experience preparing engineering specifications, procurement documentation, and design reviews
• Experience supporting testing, commissioning, and project implementation
