PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer/Technologist to lead and manage the Electrical Engineering function within nuclear design projects. The successful candidate will deliver compliant, safe, and technically sound electrical designs, support tendering and project execution, and provide specialist expertise across multidisciplinary teams — all while ensuring strict adherence to nuclear regulatory, quality, and safety standards.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Electrical Design & Engineering Development
- Develop and review electrical designs in line with project specifications and nuclear standards
- Perform electrical calculations (cable sizing, voltage drop, short circuit, load flow studies)
- Participate in concept and detailed design phases
- Conduct site investigations and gather design input data for brownfield projects
- Ensure all designs comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Project & Technical Management
- Manage the Electrical section and coordinate team activities
- Plan and allocate engineering resources to meet project timelines
- Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines
- Provide input into project schedules and deliverables tracking
- Monitor progress and resolve technical issues during project execution
Tendering & Cost Estimation
- Analyse client requirements and define project electrical scope
- Prepare technical specifications for procurement
- Compile Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and equipment classifications
- Contribute to cost estimations and commercial proposals
- Develop and review tender documentation and submissions
Nuclear Safety & Compliance Assurance
- Compile safety screenings, evaluations, and justifications
- Develop safety cases for installation and design approval
- Ensure compliance with nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Review and approve Electrical Certificates of Compliance (CoCs)
- Maintain adherence to QA systems (ISO, ASME, IAEA standards)
Project Execution, Testing & Commissioning
- Support fabrication and installation phases of projects
- Participate in testing and commissioning activities
- Ensure plant documentation is updated and maintained
- Verify system performance against design requirements
- Provide technical support during project close-out
QUALIFICATION
- BSc/BEng/BTech in Electrical Engineering
- Registered as a Professional Engineer/Technologist (Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech) with ESCA
- Recognised or authorised Safety Evaluator status (e.g., 10 CFR 50.59 or equivalent) required
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10-15 years' relevant experience in multidisciplinary engineering design
- Proven experience in nuclear projects, preferably on PWR facilities
- Experience in design, tendering, and project execution environments
