Our client is looking for an experienced and driven Business Development Officer to join their team in the Western Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, strengthening existing relationships and growing recycling volumes across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities within the recycling and environmental services sector.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, businesses and other key stakeholders.
• Grow glass collection and recycling volumes within the assigned territory.
• Identify opportunities for new glass banks, collection points and related infrastructure.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify potential growth opportunities.
• Analyse recycling and collection performance and provide regular feedback and reports.
• Conduct client and stakeholder visits and support ongoing account management.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure business development initiatives are effectively implemented.
• Manage a pipeline of opportunities from initial engagement through to implementation.
• Represent the organisation professionally at industry events, meetings and stakeholder engagements.
• Travel within the Western Cape as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12.
• Relevant Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Sales, Environmental Management or a related field will be advantageous.
• 3-5 years' experience in business development, sales, account management or stakeholder management.
• Experience within the recycling, waste management, environmental services, FMCG or related industries will be advantageous.
• Proven track record in identifying and developing new business opportunities.
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Good administrative, reporting and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage a regional territory.
• Willingness to travel within the Western Cape.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable, roadworthy vehicle essential.
