Qualifications

• BSc/BTech in Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry with a Logistics/Supply Chain qualification.
• Alternatively, a Supply Chain/Logistics qualification with extensive industrial gases experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the end-to-end bulk gases supply chain, logistics strategy, and operations to maximise efficiency and productivity.
• Manage the national fleet and ensure on-time, in-full product delivery.
• Oversee distribution and workshop operations, control costs, and improve processes.
• Analyse supply chain data using AI tools to improve forecasting and decision-making.
• Manage intercompany supply and maintain strong stakeholder and customer relationships.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards.

Job description

Our client has a vacancy for a Bulk Gases Supply Chain Manager based in Vanderbijlpark, reporting to the GM: Bulk & Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the end-to-end bulk gases supply chain, logistics strategy, and operations to maximise efficiency and productivity. Responsibilities include managing the national fleet, ensuring on-time, in-full product delivery, overseeing distribution and workshop operations, controlling costs, improving processes, analysing supply chain data using AI tools, managing intercompany supply, maintaining strong stakeholder and customer relationships, and ensuring compliance with SHEQ standards.

Requirements:

• BSc/BTech in Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry with a Logistics/Supply Chain qualification. Alternatively, a Supply Chain/Logistics qualification with extensive industrial gases experience.
• CI and/or Management qualifications advantageous.
• 10-15 years' logistics and transport experience in an industrial gases/chemical manufacturing environment, including 8 years in senior management.
• 5-8 years' people management experience, including union engagement and negotiations.
• Proven experience using AI to improve demand forecasting, supply chain analysis, inventory management, and route optimisation.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and dangerous goods fleet management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage complex operations.
