• Minimum 5 years' experience in South African short-term insurance.
• Proven experience working with brokers or brokerages.
• RE5/RE1 and full insurance qualification.
• Short-Term Insurance qualification with FAIS credits.
• Strong knowledge of short-term insurance products and broker portfolio management.

Our client, an established organisation within the short-term insurance sector, is looking for an experienced Broker Consultant to join their Durban team.

The role is suited to someone who understands the broker market, enjoys building strong commercial relationships and can balance business development with the ongoing management of an existing broker portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with independent brokers and brokerages.
• Manage and develop an existing portfolio while identifying opportunities for new business.
• Drive growth across short-term insurance products and achieve agreed sales and portfolio targets.
• Conduct regular broker meetings, presentations and relationship visits.
• Understand broker requirements and identify opportunities to strengthen or expand business.
• Support brokers with product, underwriting and relevant business information.
• Monitor portfolio performance, including growth, renewals, claims trends and loss ratios.
• Review upcoming renewals and identify areas requiring premium or risk adjustments.
• Ensure broker and policy documentation is complete and accurately maintained.
• Work closely with internal underwriting, administration, finance and sales teams.
• Keep brokers informed of relevant underwriting requirements and changes affecting their portfolios.
• Represent the business professionally within the broker market.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience within the South African short-term insurance industry.
• Proven experience working directly with brokers or brokerages.
• Matric / Grade 12.
• RE5 / RE1 and full insurance qualification
• Relevant Short-Term Insurance qualification, preferably NQF Level 4/5 with the required FAIS credits.
• Strong understanding of short-term insurance products, underwriting principles and broker portfolio management.
• Commercially driven with strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Valid South African driver's licence and willingness to travel.
