Job summary

DSV – Global transport and logistics in Bloemfontein is seeking a Branch Manager, Operations, Road to lead staff, manage resources and ensure delivery of the Service Catalogue to clients. You will drive revenue, profitability and client retention while upholding compliance and safety standards.

The role demands at least 5 years of people management and deep experience in logistics, transport, IR, customer relations, budgeting and cost control, with willingness to travel within South Africa.

Qualifications

• Matric (Essential).
• Diploma or Degree in Transport, Logistics or Supply Chain, and/or Business Management/Administration (Essential).
• Minimum 5 years people management experience.
• 5 years experience in operations management, IR, CRM, transport management and courier operations.
• 3 years budgeting and financial controls experience (P&L understanding).

Responsibilities

• To manage the delivery of the organization's objectives through communication, measurement and motivation of the staff.
• To interface with shared functions ensuring continues cooperation and interactions with these functions.
• To manage and deliver on our Service Catalogue to clients.
• To manage cost and productivity within the branch ensuring that efficiency and effectiveness is at the order of the day.
• To ensure compliance with internal and external controls and other KPI’s set at global and local level.
• To deliver on the bottom‑line budget commitment to ensure that the business unit budget is met.
• To identify opportunities and risks within the business that may impact on the business environment and ability to deliver shareholder commitments.
• Managing people’s performance and growth to create a sustainable business environment.
• Adherence to deadlines and schedules.
• Managing and controlling resources and risk management.
• Administrative duties relevant to the position.
• Interacting with customers at all levels – in person and telephonically.
• Maintain and enforce existing systems processes and controls with continuous improvement.
• Customer dissatisfaction process, analysing failures with regards to deliveries, client complaints, damages etc. to determine root cause and corrective actions.
• Actively managing daily operational performance to consistently achieve performance metric targets.
• Ensure all vehicles owned; leased; hired; rented or supplied by suppliers (including owner driver) must be fully road worthy and compliant with all locally legal legislation requirements.
