Job summary

DSV in Cape Town is seeking a Manager, Senior Operations for Road. You will maximise efficiency across Inland Branches, implement policies and drive new business initiatives aligned with the company strategy.

You will lead a team, manage budgets and financial controls, and ensure adherence to LRA and BCEA and IR practices. Willingness to travel within SA and own vehicle required; strong stakeholder engagement essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years people management experience.
• 5+ years in operations management, logistics or projects.
• Experience with IR, customer relations and transport operations.
• 3 years budgeting and financial controls experience.
• Own vehicle with valid driver's license; willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Manage delivery of Road Logistics objectives through staff motivation and measurement.
• Interface with shared services to ensure cooperation and cross‑functional alignment.
• Deliver on client commitments according to the strategy.
• Control costs and productivity; ensure efficiency daily.
• Ensure internal and external controls and KPI adherence.
• Develop and coach the operations team; execute projects with cross‑functional teams.

Main purpose of the role:

• Maximise the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Inland Beanches and the implementation of policies, procedures
  and new business initiatives, ensuring the achievement of the goals outlined in the company strategy.

Job related requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years people management experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the following areas:
  • Operations management, particular logistics & Projects
  • IR related issues
  • Customer relationship management
  • Transport management
  • Courier operations
• 3 years budgeting and financial controls experience
• Own vehicle with a valid driver's license
• Ability to travel
• Flexible to travel within South Africa as required
• Comprehensive knowledge of the LRA and BCEA and hands-on experience in Industrial Relations (disciplinary enquiries)
• Self-motivated and assertive
• Ability to manage and develop team skills and leadership
• Ability to implement new projects with the project teams (crucial)
• Be able to Communciate on Senior Mangament Level
• Keep the Operational Team motivatded and Developed

Electives

• Previous experience in operations and liaison with clients and branches
• Proven track record in managing national projects
• Accounting experience

Duties and responsibilities

• To manage the delivery of the Road Logistics objectives through communication, measurement and motivation of the
  staff.
• To interface with shared functions ensuring continues cooperation and interactions with these functions.
• To manage and deliver on client’s commitments based on agreed strategy.
• To manage cost and productivity within the Division ensuring that efficiency and effectiveness is at the order of the day.
• To ensure compliance to internal and external controls and other KPI’s as set and agreed to.
• To deliver on the bottom-line budget commitment to ensure that the business unit budget is met.
• To identify opportunities and risks within the business that may impact the business environment and ability to deliver to
  shareholder commitments.
• Managing people’s performance and growth to create a sustainable business environment.
• Ensure that customer service standards and Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met by achieving collections and
  deliveries within the required standard to ensure client satisfaction.
• Deliver on set and agreed KPi Metrics within Operations.
• Excecute Operational task inline with the company strategy.
