Job summary

DSV in Cape Town seeks a Manager, Senior Operations, Road to maximise efficiency of Inland Branches and implement policies, procedures and new business initiatives aligned with the company strategy.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years of people management experience and strong knowledge in operations management, IR, budgeting, and leadership. Travel within South Africa is expected as required; own vehicle is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years people management experience.
• 5+ years’ experience in operations management, particularly logistics & projects.
• Experience in IR related issues and customer relationship management.
• 3 years budgeting and financial controls experience.
• Own vehicle with a valid driver’s license; willingness to travel within SA.
• Knowledge of LRA and BCEA with hands‑on IR experience.
• Strong leadership and team development skills; Able to drive projects with cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage delivery of Road Logistics objectives through communication, measurement and motivation of staff.
• Coordinate with shared functions ensuring cooperation across teams.
• Deliver on client commitments based on defined strategy.
• Control costs and drive productivity within the division.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external controls and KPIs.
• Meet budget commitments and contribute to bottom‑line results.
• Identify opportunities and risks impacting the business environment.
• Oversee performance and growth of staff; maintain service levels and SLA adherence.

Main purpose of the role:

• Maximise the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Inland Beanches and the implementation of policies, procedures
  and new business initiatives, ensuring the achievement of the goals outlined in the company strategy.

Job related requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years people management experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the following areas:
  • Operations management, particular logistics & Projects
  • IR related issues
  • Customer relationship management
  • Transport management
  • Courier operations
• 3 years budgeting and financial controls experience
• Own vehicle with a valid driver's license
• Ability to travel
• Flexible to travel within South Africa as required
• Comprehensive knowledge of the LRA and BCEA and hands‑on experience in Industrial Relations (disciplinary enquiries)
• Self‑motivated and assertive
• Ability to manage and develop team skills and leadership
• Ability to implement new projects with the project teams (crucial)
• Be able to Communciate on Senior Mangament Level
• Keep the Operational Team motivatded and Developed

Electives

Duties and responsibilities

• To manage the delivery of the Road Logistics objectives through communication, measurement and motivation of the
  staff.
• To interface with shared functions ensuring continues cooperation and interactions with these functions.
• To manage and deliver on client’s commitments based on agreed strategy.
• To manage cost and productivity within the Division ensuring that efficiency and effectiveness is at the order of the day.
• To ensure compliance to internal and external controls and other KPI’s as set and agreed to.
• To deliver on the bottom‑line budget commitment to ensure that the business unit budget is met.
• To identify opportunities and risks within the business that may impact the business environment and ability to deliver to
  shareholder commitments.
• Managing people’s performance and growth to create a sustainable business environment.
• Ensure that customer service standards and Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met by achieving collections and
  deliveries within the required standard to ensure client satisfaction.
• Deliver on set and agreed KPi Metrics within Operations.
• Excecute Operational task inline with the company strategy.
