Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Blockchain Network Administrator for our Richards Bay office. The role requires in-office presence, overseeing day-to-day operations, security, backups, and performance of our private blockchain network.

You will join a team responsible for uptime, reliability, and integration with development work while staying current with blockchain security practices and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in network administration or systems engineering.
• Hands-on experience with managing and maintaining blockchain nodes (e.g., Hyperledger Fabric, Ethereum clients).
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network security principles.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain blockchain nodes and network infrastructure.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization.
• Ensure the security of the blockchain network by implementing and managing access controls, encryption, and other security measures.
• Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning for the blockchain network.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network and system issues in a timely manner.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and network access.
• Implement and maintain network monitoring tools and alerting systems.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and operational guidelines.
• Collaborate with development teams to support network upgrades and new feature rollouts.
• Stay current with emerging blockchain technologies and security best practices relevant to network administration.
