Job summary

Groupe CFAO in Africa, South Africa is seeking a Battery Technician to assemble and repair Lithium Ion and Lead Acid batteries and chargers according to safety standards and customer requirements. The role includes diagnosis, on-site repairs, and workshops duties in a fast-paced environment.

You will diagnose faults, assemble batteries with correct layouts, prepare cells, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining strict safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience with lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries.
• Ability to diagnose equipment faults and propose repairs.
• Willingness to perform site and workshop tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnosis and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Repair on customer sites or in workshop.
• Build new batteries with correct layout and polarity.
• Cut and pack to stabilize cells in tanks.
• Place cells in tanks according to machine model.
• Paint, clean and mark steel tanks as required.
• Adjust acid levels as needed.
• Build batteries within the specified time frame.
• Deliver batteries and chargers.

The purpose of this position is to assemble and repair Lithium Ion & Lead Acid batteries and chargers in a cost-efficient manner by using the correct equipment, to the required industry and safety standards and assist with other duties.

Profile

To perform this job successfully, the appointed individual must be able to perform each essential duty / key performance area satisfactorily. This list of key performance areas is not exhaustive and may be changed / supplemented to accommodate business needs from time to time:

• Perform accurate diagnosis / troubleshooting / repairs, in event of breakdown of equipment; communicate whatrepairs are needed by advising the customer and/or supervisor.
• Repairs on customers site / or Workshop
• Build new batteries with correct layout and polarity.
• Cut and use packing correctly to stabilize cells in tank.
• Place the correct cells in the correct tank according to machine model.
• Paint, clean and mark steel tanks as and when necessary.
• Need to do acid adjustments as and when required.
• Build batteries in specified time frame.
• Keep the workshop clean and tidy.
• Deliver batteries and chargers.
