The Royal Portfolio in Franschhoek is seeking a skilled Barista/Bartender to prepare and serve a variety of drinks to our esteemed guests. This role requires a minimum of 2 years' experience in bartending at a luxury establishment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain high standards of service.

You will be integral in creating an exceptional experience for guests, with responsibilities including drink preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and managing inventory.

Overview

The Barista/ Bartender's main purpose at La Residence is to prepare and serve a wide variety of drinks (wines, spirits, cocktails and soft) to our guests, in a professional and friendly manner - mixing and matching ingredients in order to create classic and innovative drinks in accordance with our guests’ needs and discerning expectations. The Bartender ensures that the standards of The Royal Portfolio are met, in order to contribute to the purpose of the company, which is "to give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay".

Responsibilities

• To ensure a superior, friendly and personalised guest service and experience on opening date
• Interact with customers and take orders
• Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks
• Mix drinks, cocktails and other bar beverages as ordered and in compliance with the hotel's standard drink recipes
• Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make suitable recommendations
• Ability to sell or influence others for up selling and suggestive selling
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products
• Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, vacuuming and dusting
• Maintain liquor inventory and consumption records
• Prepare inventory or purchase requisitions as needed to replenish supplies
• Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience

Qualifications & Expectations

• Minimum 2 years’ experience required bartending in a luxury 5 star hotel or restaurant
• Experience in handling Point of Sale (POS) terminals and Stock & Inventory management software
• Have excellent English communication skills (written and verbal). International languages are advantageous
• Display positive interpersonal skills
• Have willingness and a passion to serve
• Ability to stay calm under pressure
• Ability to work long hours, day and night, including weekends and holidays
• Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and attention to detail
• A passion to learn, teach and drive improvement in fellow employees
• International experience in a similar environment and travel experience

South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
