Job summary

FIXR in Cape Town is seeking a backend engineer to build and ship new features on top of our existing platform. You’ll improve core systems, optimize performance, and contribute to architectural decisions while collaborating with Product and Design.

The role requires strong Python/Django experience, REST APIs, and hands-on work with PostgreSQL, Celery, and modern backend tools. Hybrid office-based schedule with cross-country collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience building features on a Django-based backend.
• Strong Python development skills with exposure to RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and async task queues.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship new features on top of our existing platform.
• Improve core systems to increase performance, reduce complexity, and enable faster development.
• Contribute to technical design and architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to scope work and define pragmatic solutions.
• Provide input on planning, trade-offs, and timelines.
• Maintain code quality through thoughtful reviews and shared ownership.
