Job summary

Belay Talent Solutions seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) in Pretoria to design, develop, and maintain server-side logic and APIs powering core products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 5+ years in backend development, strong skills in Java, Python, or Node.js, and experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Hybrid work supports collaboration and remote work flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Java, Python, Node.js, C#).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend code.
• Develop and manage robust APIs for frontend and third-party integrations.
• Optimize performance, queries, and architecture for scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and frontend engineers to deliver features end-to-end.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
