Placements24 is seeking a diligent and experienced Aviation Safety Officer to oversee and enhance safety management systems for operations in Bloemfontein.

You will conduct audits, develop safety initiatives, investigate incidents, and ensure compliance with SACAA and ICAO regulations, contributing to risk reduction and operational integrity.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Aviation Safety Management or related field.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Aviation Safety Officer to oversee and enhance safety management systems for their operations in Bloemfontein . This role is critical in promoting a strong safety culture, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with all national and international aviation safety regulations. You will work closely with operational teams, conduct audits, and develop safety initiatives to maintain the highest standards of safety across the organization, contributing significantly to risk reduction and operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all operational areas.
• Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff to foster a proactive safety culture.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the organization remains compliant with all relevant aviation safety legislation.
• Maintain comprehensive safety records and reports, preparing them for regulatory submissions and internal reviews.

Requirements

• A recognized qualification in Aviation Safety Management or a related field.
• Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in aviation safety management, auditing, or risk assessment.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations (SACAA, ICAO) and safety management principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough investigations.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with safety management software and reporting tools is advantageous.
