Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Aviation Safety Manager to oversee SMS development and regulatory compliance at their Mossel Bay facility. You will lead audits, investigations, and safety training to foster a proactive safety culture and ensure operational integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 7 years in aviation safety management with SMS implementation.
• Knowledge of ICAO Annex 19 and national aviation regs.
• Certifications such as CSMP or SMS for Aviation are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
• Investigate all safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Monitor and analyze safety performance data, preparing reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation safety regulations and standards.
• Advise management on safety-related matters and recommend improvements to safety procedures and policies.
• Maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all safety-related inquiries and external audits.
