Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years progressive aviation safety management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations (SACAA, ICAO Annexes), SMS principles, and risk management techniques.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful Safety Management Systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience in conducting safety audits and investigations.
• Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools.
• Professional certifications in Aviation Safety (e.g., ICAO SMS certified) are highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with national and international aviation regulations (e.g., SACAA, ICAO).
• Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits of all aviation operations, identifying potential hazards and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Monitor safety performance indicators (SPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) to proactively manage safety risks.
• Investigate aviation incidents, accidents, and safety occurrences, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., SACAA) on all matters related to safety and compliance.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation.
• Advise senior management on safety-related matters and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Champion safety initiatives and foster a proactive reporting culture among employees.
• Oversee the implementation of safety recommendations and track their effectiveness.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in aviation safety and regulatory requirements.
