Placements24 is seeking an experienced Aviation Ground Operations Supervisor for East London Airport. You will lead a team responsible for ground handling, ensuring safe and timely aircraft turnaround and efficient ramp operations.

You will oversee baggage handling, cargo, and passenger flows, maintain records, and liaise with flight crews and airport stakeholders while enforcing safety and regulatory compliance. East London-based role with shift flexibility.

Formación

About the Role

Our client, a major airline service provider at East London Airport, is seeking a motivated and experienced Aviation Ground Operations Supervisor. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily ground handling operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely turnaround of aircraft. The supervisor will lead a team of ground crew, manage resources, and ensure compliance with all safety and operational procedures. This is a hands-on leadership position critical to the smooth functioning of airside and ramp operations in East London.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of ground handling staff, including baggage handlers, ramp agents, and aircraft loaders.
• Ensure the safe and efficient turnaround of aircraft, including baggage loading/unloading, cargo handling, and passenger boarding/disembarking.
• Monitor adherence to safety regulations and company policies on the ramp and airside areas.
• Manage the allocation of resources, equipment, and personnel to meet operational demands.
• Conduct safety briefings and provide ongoing training and supervision to the ground crew.
• Respond to operational disruptions and emergencies, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Liaise with flight crews, air traffic control, and other airport stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
• Maintain records of aircraft turnaround times, equipment usage, and incidents.
• Ensure the proper maintenance and operational readiness of ground support equipment (GSE).
• Promote a positive and productive work environment for the ground operations team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a qualification in aviation, logistics, or a related field is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in aviation ground operations or a supervisory role in a related logistics or transportation environment.
• Proven experience in leading and managing teams.
• Strong understanding of aviation ground handling procedures, safety regulations, and airport operations.
• Excellent knowledge of ramp safety protocols and procedures.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain airport security clearance.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required in East London.
• Physical fitness to perform the duties of the role, including lifting and working in various weather conditions.
