Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Electrical Engineer for our Rustenburg-based client in the North West. The role focuses on designing, developing, and testing electrical systems for new vehicle models, working with mechanical, software, and systems teams.

You will create schematics, validate with simulations and prototypes, and ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and EMC standards while delivering reliable, high-performance architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years in automotive electrical system design.
• Proficient with CAN bus, LIN bus and automotive protocols.
• Experienced with CAD and simulation tools (Altium, AutoCAD Electrical, SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink).
• Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electrical systems and wiring harnesses.
• Create schematics, specifications, and technical docs.
• Test and validate electrical systems using simulations and prototypes.
• Analyze results and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with suppliers to select components meeting design and cost targets.
• Support production with troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and EMC regulations.
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with mechanical and software teams for integration.
