Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Technician to join our client’s team in Queenstown, South Africa. The role focuses on installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and robotics to ensure efficient automated manufacturing processes.

You will collaborate with engineering and production to implement upgrades, perform routine diagnostics, and maintain comprehensive system documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience as Industrial Automation Technician or similar role.
• Proven PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
• Experience with robotics, VFDs, and industrial networking protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and automation diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and robotics.
• Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC logic and HMI interfaces for new and existing processes.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on automated machinery.
• Identify and resolve automation-related issues, minimizing production downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement automation upgrades and improvements.
• Maintain detailed documentation of automation systems, programming, and maintenance records.
