About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Automation Systems Technician to join their team in Nelspruit . This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of automated systems within industrial and manufacturing environments. You will be involved in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), robotic systems, and other automated equipment. This hybrid position requires on-site presence for hands‑on work, complemented by remote capabilities for system monitoring and advanced diagnostics, ensuring operational continuity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, program, and configure PLC systems, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair automated machinery, identifying root causes of mechanical and electrical failures.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on automation equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&ID diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement system upgrades and modifications.
• Monitor system performance remotely and respond to alarms and alerts promptly.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automation Technician or similar role, with a strong understanding of industrial automation.
• Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMIs.
• Knowledge of robotic systems, servo motors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• A relevant technical qualification or degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
